And the award for best story goes to...

..."Deep Wet Fire"! by Afonso Fatty, Jorge Cousin e Sander Jovi.

Congratulations, boys!

Afonso Fatty, Dr. Janaina Weissheimer, Jorge Cousin, and Sander Jovi
“HOLY SHIT!” someone screamed. That was the third victim of the day. Suddenly, there were nearly a dozen cases like that in only one week during the summer: people went to the sea, and when they returned to land, they had several burns in their skin. But the most recent victim saw something. Ian Gillan was swimming when he felt something nearby in the water, and saw what he thought it might be a fin. Ian said that the only thing he saw after that was smoke on the water. Nobody never found out anything about that fire spitting shark.

Final round: vote!

 Geek Love
“ I-I lo-love you, Amy”, I whispered. I couldn’t belive in my own words, I was declaring my love. I’ve always avoided people. But it was something about her. Love. It never meant anything to me but a stupid feeling. Genius don’t fall in love. But there I was telling her these words. Praying for her to say it back, “I love you, too, Sheldon”. I knew nothing about love, and she showed me the most important thing that I could’ve learned: it’s a feeling, not a subject, the most beautiful and magical of them, and I learned it from her.

 The Power of the Apple
“She deserves to die. After all, I am prettier than her." The Queen thought. "Magic mirror on the wall, who's the fairest of them all?". Poor mirror, broken into pieces at the moment it said "Snow White". But the Queen would get her revenge. She hired the only man in the whole world who could poison that apple. And so he did, and they both got what they wanted. Snow White was gone and unexpectedly, the Queen and the man fell in love. Steve Jobs and the Queen got married, named their kingdom “Apple” and lived happily ever after.

Thriller
A little girl was sat closer to a lake. She was dressing a gray dress and she had a mysterious look. It was around midnight and then she stood up and started walking in lake direction. The water was pretty quiet, but suddenly began bubbling and a hole appeared in the lake. The girl disappeared into the hole. Then a boy begins crying, the mother comes and turn the tv off - thriller movies are too strong to a 9 years boy - She takes the boy in her arms and bring to his room. - Good night son -

The Breathtaking Morning
From the time Angélica woke up, she knew something was wrong. The kids were too quiet and Luciano wasn’t there. As she went down the stairs, she got more frightened. The lights were off but she could hear strange noises coming from the living room. She glanced at the kitchen’s clock. It was 7 am, which could only mean one thing: there were burglars in the house! “Has my family been hurt?!” Just as she dialed 911, her dad rushed through the door and everybody yelled: “Surprise!”. Since it was her birthday, her loving ones had prepared a special breakfast.

Deep Wet Fire
“HOLY SHIT!” someone screamed. That was the third victim of the day. Suddenly, there were nearly a dozen cases like that in only one week during the summer: people went to the sea, and when they returned to land, they had several burns in their skin. Ian said that the only thing he saw after that was smoke on the water. Nobody never found out anything about that fire spitting shark.

Mistake
Paul Sheldon is inside his car. While passing through a boulevard he sees a woman fighting a man. He runs over to save her. He punches the other man’s face, who says “You will regret this”. “Thank you for saving me. I’m Annie, would you like to come over to my place?” They smile at each other and then go to her house. She brings him a drink. They are talking about life when Paul starts to feel dizzy and collapses. Annie laughs and says: “You should have listened to that man, because now you are really going to regret saving me”.

Alice in snowland

It was Christmas. The streets were covered in snow. Alice was singing when she saw something hopping towards her. "Follow me" said the rabbit and she did. Church bells were ringing, like there was a funeral somewhere near. She got home and saw her family gathered together. "The bells. It's time to go to Alice's funeral" someone said. Suddenly, everything became dark. There only was a colorful umbrella. Its colors soon turned into a rainbow followed by a bright light. “Alice, wake up” her sister opened the curtains, revealing the brightest sun in the sky, and Alice saw the umbrella by the Christmas tree.

The contest: vote for the best story

Our flash authors are writing like crazy; they never stop. So it is time for a little competition. Take some time, enjoy the reading, and vote for the one which, in your opinion, is the nicest piece of flash fiction this time.

Alone at least
“Coming to this farmhouse was a great move”, said Brad. “No one will never find us here. At least we’ll have the privacy we’ve always wanted”. After so many years being constantly watched, silence was a blessing. Just then, Angelina heard the helicopters. “We have to go, they’ve found us”. Brad was as pale as a ghost. “All of them?! We won’t have a chance!” “Come on, maybe if we leave now we can still escape”. As they approached the door, they heard the voices. “It’s too late. We’ll have to face them”. And then their wedding celebration finally began.

Natural Born Helper
The neighbor plays “All By Myself” all night long, the woman next door can’t take this anymore. Ms. Knox just wanted some sleep, but now, he’ll enter an eternal slumber. Dressed to kill, she brought down his door. She heard the noise of a chair falling. Entering the room, Mallory sees the man trying to hang himself. She uses her knife to cut the rope, maybe was it compassion in Mallory’s heart? “My wife died three days ago, I wanna meet her in heaven.” Mallory replies: “You will meet her there, but not by yourself”, and her dress turns red.

Eating Bad Stuff
She didn’t tell anybody about it, but the will was uncontrollable. She had always loved the stories her father used to tell her, that man made of iron was incredible. He was the most fascinating hero she’d heard about. They were alike in some way. So, she kept it in her mind: “I have to meet him. I have to tell him how it’s strong. Then she realised: “Would I kill him?”. Face to face, now she knows the answer: she can’t control herself when she sees a metal. She wants to touch it. She wants to feel it. She wants to EAT it.

The apocalipse brought by a child

What is she doing? Said the little fat boy, the boy with the jacket show a hand signal, your friend says what’s this? The children seem to be in a trance, following the girl calling your name “Lucy fear”. The girl in red jumps from the hill, The children’s look, the cliff is getting closer and closer, when a hand appears and tries to pull children, it's Satan, he was chained in the abyss, the man in black arises and say: “Asta la Vista, Baby”, shot in the head, Satan dropped in like fire, and the man save the children.

Mr. & Mrs. Watson (reloaded post)

"Thanks, Mr. Holmes", said Beatrix Watson while she walked me out the door. Her husband had been lying as to his whereabouts. I followed Bill Watson to Buckingham Palace, where he asked some Mr. Beans where to find a Hanzo Sword. Mrs. Watson would have been disappointed. So many more creative ways to kill. "She knows", I said when he turned around. He smiled. We drove back to their mansion and I was disappointed to not have been there when I heard a gun fire. Beatrix came out and said "Drive". "Elementary, my dear Watson" was all I said.

Ok, this story got the award for Best Flash Fiction some time ago, and it already has a post.  But now it has got a nice image to help us with the allusions, so it deserves a reloaded post, doesn't it? Oh yes, it does!

Tag’s Life

After a wonderful day, she’s going back to the hotel. It’s night and she faces a strange feeling. Only few lights are on, it's difficult to see. She can listen awkward sounds. It's chilly, she’s shivering but she keeps going. She feels eyes on her back, her heart beats faster and faster, lights pass by like comets. She falls, her ankle’s wrenched, she can't run and she knows that the time goes by. He’s getting closer and closer. It's difficult but she stands up and when she turns around he jumps on her and licks her cheeks. That's it, her dog won the tag game.

A big mistake

Yesterday my friend invited me to go to Grafith. He told me he would pick me up at home. I wore a red mini-skirt, a silver blouse and high heels. I was really excited to go to the Grafith concert. When he arrived he looked at me very impressed, but didn’t say anything. After five minutes the car stopped and we walked to a big place, when i opened the door i saw we weren’t at a party, but in one exhibition of paintings by a Polish painter called Krystian Grafith. That was the most embarrassing moment of my life.

The final request

“Mom, I’m home”, Malcolm said. He went on: “Something’s happened, I need you to come with me”. “Where to?” I asked. “Just come, it’s important”. I drove for about an hour. Then I realized there had been a horrible accident. I stopped the car. “Gosh, Malcolm, why are we here?” “Let’s go out”, he replied. We got closer and I saw a familiar man’s figure. It was Malcolm, lying still and covered with blood. I screamed. “It’s just not possible! My little boy...” “Mommy, just cremate my body and throw my ashes in the sea. I love you”, he whispered.

Inner discovery

Emerged from the bushes, the stalker knew the other wasn’t home. He knew almost everything about his prey, but “almost” wasn’t enough knowledge and there he was. He silently broke the window and sneaked into the house, trying not to move anything, leave no traces behind. Once in the bedroom, he took a long look around, as he knew the next step would lead him to a great discovery on the other’s life, and opened the secret drawer. Now, with the secret files in his hands, mister Bates would finally learn everything about the other half of his split personality.
